Father's Day Brunch

We had brunch at the Pancake House today. I went down early to book a table (there was an hour wait...It's Father's Day!). While I was waiting I enjoyed a worship service put on by the Salvation Army....worship at the Forks!

The riverwalk is under water again and so we couldn't walk anywhere. Found these ducklings sitting by the water's edge.

Looks like we also have historic sites to see and take pictures of.....can you guess which building this is?

Backyard Renovation begins....

Well it's been a couple of weeks and my time has been spent trying to get the backyard fixed up. Here's a few pictures before we got started..... (notice kayak on deck?)

Some young nephews were willing to come and work on it and so here's a few pics...pulling the deck down....

loading up the old rotten boards.....

They were ready and willing to do my bidding...plant this shrub here, shovel this gravel over there , move the riverwash over by the fence and a few hours later.....voila....

Now we wait for Jerry's Concrete to come on July 9th and create our new patio...can hardly wait! Anyway I'm pooped...it's been a long day...after having pizza with the boys (Uncle Frank helped today too) we watched a movie (The Holiday, wasn't bad) and now it's time to go to bed!
Good night!

Well, we don't seem to have a lot to report. It has been raining steady for days and days....the sun finally came out today as did all the worms and mosquitos! I finally got started on planting some of the plants I've been buying. I'm a full week behind last year's schedule!

Last Saturday night we went out for dessert with john & Kathy Ilg. Always a pleasure! On Sunday we went out for lunch to Moxie's with Anne & Gerhard and to Uncle Abe's 75th Birthday party...good food and good laughs!

Dad is still buzzing around Henderson Hwy. on his bike. People are actually spotting him and recognizing him. He went out the other night, it was cold and wet. I think he said he was the only one on the road to Lockport and back! He's dedicated!!

Well Laura, I hate to tell you (or show you) but the pine tree came down on Thursday. We came home from supper at Gondola to find a huge pile of branches and a pile of sawdust where once the tree was! Several neighbours commented how much better it looked now. It just opens the yard...you can actually see the house from the street and youe can see across the street from the inside.

Came back from Dad's baseball game (they lost) and Dad's wrist was all swollen up. He'd been hit by a ball. He's gone off to the hospital to see if it's broken. Will let you know how that works out next time!

Soon!
